The museum's commitment to fostering a love of learning and discovery makes it a popular destination for families seeking educational and entertaining experiences.

TIP: Before buying tickets to a museum, check your local library first! Many museums around Westchester donate passes to local branches for families to check out and use for FREE. Participating locations include the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, The Barnum Museum, Bruce Museum, Hudson River Museum, Hudson Valley MOCA, Neuberger Museum of Art, and Wave Hill.

The Westchester Library System, with its expansive network of branches throughout Westchester County, is a treasure trove for book lovers of all ages. With a variety of programs, events, and resources available, including many free offerings, the Westchester Library System is a wonderful and welcoming community hub for families. The Trove at the White Plains Public Library is a particular favorite in my family due to its incredible theming, so if you're looking for something new to do on a rainy day, I cannot recommend it enough. Since all of the public libraries across Westchester are part of the Westchester Library System, your local library card will work at any one of the 38 libraries in the county, making visiting a new library a great rainy day adventure.

The Katonah Reading Room is a such a cozy and inviting space perfect for escaping the rain. With its comfortable seating, ample natural light, and a vast collection of children's books, this charming book store and coffee shop offers a wonderful opportunity for young readers to explore new worlds and ignite their imaginations. Whether they're seeking thrilling adventures, heartwarming stories, or informative nonfiction, the Katonah Reading Room has something to pique every child's interest. They also sell ice cream, candy, and fresh baked goods every day. Between the books and the treats, my kids and I can easily spend an afternoon in the store!

The Palisades Center, just a short drive across the Hudson River from Westchester County, offers a convenient and exciting experience for families. With a wide range of stores, restaurants, and attractions, this popular mall has something for everyone. Kids can enjoy fun rides at the amusement park or catch a movie at the cinema, and there's even an indoor ropes course in the center of the mall. The Palisades Center is a bit bigger than The Westchester, so this is a great option if you're looking for more variety. With over 225 brands, you're sure to find something for everyone here.

Watch your movie from a reclining seat at Regal Cinemas in New Roc City. Want a more quaint theater? Support a smaller local theater such as the Pelham or Bronxville Picture House. Indoor Pools and Water Parks

Who says you can't go swimming on a rainy day? There's a few indoor pools around Westchester, including

the Rye YMCA, Premier Athletic Club in Montrose, and the JCC in Scarsdale. While there are no indoor water parks located in Westchester, the largest water park in North America, DreamWorks Water Park at the American Dream is only about a half hour drive from lower Westchester.
